For the ultralight minimalist, The Traveler works great as a single bag, filled with a few small packing cubes and the items you need to hold close. For those who pack a little more, or who have to bring more operational equipment with them into the field, we find The Traveler works great accompanied by a backpack for true 1.5 bag carry. The messenger style makes it easy to wear in tandem with a travel backpack – while retaining freedom of movement, use of both hands, and access to the contents of the bag.

We currently use two different fabrics from Challenge Sailcloth.

Ultra200x:
Ounce for ounce, Ultra fabrics are likely the strongest, most durable materials you can buy on the market today.

200d Ultra PE is woven and laminated to recycled, waterproof RUV film. At just 3.5oz/yd2, it far exceeds the technical properties of any similar weight fabric available on Planet Earth!

Challenge Ultra 200 is a laminate fabric comprised of the following layers:
200d face Ultra-PE blended with high-tenacity polyester
0.5 mil RUV™ film backing

Ecopak EPX200:
100% recycled polyester components, C0 DWR (no fluorocarbons), 70d Ripstop backing, recyclable after use. Compared to traditional pack fabric with 50d plain weave backing, the 70d Ripstop has better stitch holding and superior strength.

The shoulder strap on The Traveler has 20” (50cm) of adjustability, from 18” (45cm) to 38” (96cm) long. With the small wings on the side of the bag where the strap attaches giving it a little extra length, the maximum effective length of the strap is 44 inches (111cm).

The materials that we use are highly water resistant. Additionally, waterproof ykk zippers help keep water out. We do not recommend submerging the bag in water, but you should be just fine on a drizzly motorbike ride, or a rainy walk through an old part of the city.
